About Us

Serebro Health

Serebro Health was founded in 2022 by Alisa Serebro and her husband, Giovanni, with one clear mission: to help the helpers. We understand the unique challenges faced by caregivers, healthcare professionals, first responders, military families, and anyone who gives so much of themselves to others, because we’ve lived it too.

This is not only for those in crisis, but also for those who want to build a sustainable approach to mental health so they can prevent burnout before it takes hold. Our role is to help you pause, make space to breathe, and regain your footing, even when the world around you feels uncertain.

Our approach is grounded in empathy, evidence-based strategies, and real-life tools that fit your lifestyle. We believe progress happens in small, meaningful steps, and we’re here to walk with you through each one.

Are the Sessions Online Only?

Currently, sessions are available either online or in-person at Petawawa. For our virtual clients, we use a secure, encrypted video conferencing through Google Meet.

Can You Give a Diagnosis?

As psychotherapists/counsellors, we cannot give an official diagnosis. In Canada, psychotherapists/counsellors treat common mental, behavioural, and emotional concerns through talk therapy, using evidence-based techniques to improve one’s life.

Can You Prescribe Medication?

As psychotherapists/counsellors, we cannot prescribe any medication.

Do I Need a Referral?

It depends on your insurance plan. Most providers do not require a doctor’s note for psychotherapy or counselling; however, some may request one before processing claims. We recommend checking directly with your insurance provider to confirm their requirements so you can be fully prepared before starting therapy.

Do You Do Direct Billing to Insurance?

Yes! We are able to direct bill to most insurance providers. Our clients pay as little as $0 to $37 out-of-pocket per session with insurance.
Direct billing options vary by insurer, and the list of insurers that allow it can change over time. We’ll confirm whether your provider offers direct billing for psychotherapy services when you get in touch with us. During your free 20-minute consult, we’ll explain the process step-by-step and give you all the details you need to get started.

Does it Matter Where I Live?

Not at all! So long as you live in Canada, we can provide services across the country.
For clients that prefer virtual, just make sure to let us know where you reside on your consult call so that we can confirm your insurance coverage (if applicable).

How Can I Pay For My Session?

We accept all major credit cards, Visa debit, and e-transfers. Many insurers allow some or all of the cost to be billed directly to them. If direct billing isn’t available, your insurance provider may still reimburse you after you submit a receipt from us. We provide receipts for every billed and paid session.

How Long is a Single Therapy Session and How Many Sessions Will I Need?

An individual session is 50 minutes long. How long you need to go to therapy depends on your unique situation and desired goals. Some individuals may only need a few sessions, while others would benefit from regular check-ins over the course of a year.Your therapist will be able to advise you better once the assessment and initial goals are established.

What Can I Expect From the Therapy Sessions?

At Serebro Health, we take a person-centred approach, meaning we focus on what you need from each session. At the start of every appointment, your therapist will check in to see what would be most helpful that day, whether it’s unpacking something that just happened, continuing to work toward your larger goals, doing deeper trauma work, or exploring practical strategies to manage daily stresses and enhance your overall well-being.As we listen to your story, we’ll highlight themes and observations to help you gain greater self-awareness. Recognizing where the challenges lie is the first step. From there, your therapist may introduce strategies, practice them with you in session, and add them to your personalized Therapy Resource Folder so you can revisit them anytime.Over time, we’ll work together to strengthen the skills that help you cope and thrive both now and in the future. Once you feel confident using your new tools, you may choose to conclude your sessions or check in occasionally for an emotional tune-up.
