Understanding Grief: A Natural, Nonlinear Process
In this article, we explore how grief lives not only in our thoughts, but also in our bodies, showing up as heaviness in the chest, tension we can’t quite explain, or a numbness that makes everything feel far away. We look at how grief doesn’t follow a straight line or a set of stages, but instead moves in waves, shifting day by day. And we explore why people often fear they’re “doing it wrong,” when in truth grief is as unique as the bond we’ve lost. We’ll talk about how grief can reshape our sense of self, how it weaves through the nervous system, and why it affects our emotions, energy, and even our ability to think clearly. Most importantly, we will also look at gentle, compassionate ways to support yourself through the process: mindfully, physically, and emotionally, as you navigate what it means to live with loss and slowly find your way forward.
