Support for Military Families

At our practice, we deeply understand the unique challenges faced by military families—because we’ve lived them too. I’m Alisa, a Canadian military spouse, and I know firsthand the stress that comes with frequent relocations, the constant need to re-establish your life, and the difficulty of being away from family and friends. It’s a life that demands resilience, but also one that can feel isolating and overwhelming at times.

One of the toughest parts? Managing everything at home when your spouse is away on deployment or extended training exercises. The pressure of carrying the household responsibilities on your own, all while living with the uncertainty of when—and if—they’ll be called upon next, can take a toll on your mental well-being.

For the military members themselves, the weight is different, but equally challenging. The duty of protecting our nation, keeping military secrets, and sometimes coping with an unsupportive chain of command creates stress that doesn’t easily disappear at the end of the workday. Balancing the demands of service with family life, maintaining self-care, and grappling with trauma that may spill into the home are constant struggles.

At our practice, we’re here to help you unpack these burdens. Together, we’ll work through your triggers, process the challenges you face, and develop strategies to help you heal and maintain your mental health. Whether you’re the one in service or the spouse holding things together at home, we’ll help you find balance and resilience in the face of it all.

To ease the financial burden of therapy, we accept Blue Cross (CAF and VAC) and Canada Life (for military families). Direct billing options are on the way! Therapy sessions are conducted over video call or phone call so that you can continue to work with your therapist wherever the military sends you next.
