What is psychotherapy?
Psychotherapy is a professional, evidence-based form of talk therapy. As a serving CAF member, you may be navigating operational stress, the demands of military life, relationship strain, or experiences that are difficult to process alone. Working one-on-one with a Registered Psychotherapist, you'll explore what's affecting your mental health and develop real tools to move forward.
"Seeking support isn't a liability. It's what keeps you mission-ready; for work, for family, and for yourself."
Unlike casual conversation, psychotherapy is structured, goal-oriented, and grounded in clinical training. Your therapist brings both professional expertise and genuine care to every session, in a space where your service context is understood and respected.

How we work with CAF members
Our therapists use evidence-based approaches tailored to the unique demands of military service. We understand the culture, the pressures, and what it takes to ask for help in this environment.
Identify and shift thought patterns driving anxiety, hypervigilance, low mood, and occupational stress. Practical, structured, and widely used in the treatment of operational stress injuries in military populations.
A safety-first approach for members navigating the lasting effects of operational trauma, moral injury, or difficult service experiences. Confidential, non-judgmental, and delivered at your pace.
Goal-oriented sessions that build on the resilience and discipline you already have. Designed for members who want practical tools and a clear path forward; on and off duty.
We understand military culture
Our Clinical Director is a military spouse who understands firsthand the demands and realities of military life. Our Director of Operations is a Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) veteran himself. Every therapist at Serebro Health receives training in the military environment, including rank structure, operational culture, and the unique stressors faced by those who serve and those who served.
You won't need to explain what a posting cycle feels like, what operational stress looks like at home, or why asking for help can feel complicated. We already understand and we're here to help.
Our Director of Operations is a CAF veteran. Military experience informs how we operate and how we support our clients.
Our Clinical Director is a military spouse. The realities of military family life. Postings, deployments, reintegration, are part of our lived experience.
Every therapist at Serebro Health receives training in the military environment: rank structure, operational culture, and the stressors unique to service and post-service life.
"You've already done the hard part by showing up. We'll take it from here."
How to access care as a CAF member
Accessing external mental health care as a serving member involves a few specific steps. Here's how it works and what to expect when coming to Serebro Health.
Identify your need to your CDU or MO
The first step is speaking with your Care Delivery Unit (CDU) or Medical Officer (MO) about your mental health needs. Your CDU or MO will assess whether external care is appropriate and initiate a referral if so. If you are seeking private care without a CDU referral, you are welcome to contact Serebro Health directly, standard rates apply and your first session is still free.
Please Note - Our Independence
Serebro Health is an independent, private healthcare provider. We are not affiliated with the Canadian Armed Forces, Department of National Defence, or any military unit or command structure. We do not share information with your chain of command, CDU, or any military authority without your explicit written consent, except where required by law. Your care at Serebro Health is confidential.
Referral and Blue Cross authorization
If your CDU or MO refers you for external care, Blue Cross authorization will be set up covering your sessions at Serebro Health. We handle direct billing on your behalf, you will not need to manage reimbursement. Once authorized, reach out to us directly to book your first session.
Your first session (free for all CAF members)
Your first session is free regardless of how you accessed care. Your therapist takes time to understand your background, your goals, and what you're hoping to work on. Your service context is understood here, you won't need to explain the culture or the pressures that come with it.
Ongoing sessions
Each 50-minute session builds on the last using evidence-based approaches tailored to your needs as a serving member. Sessions are available virtually across Canada or in-person in Petawawa, ON; whatever works best given your schedule and posting.
Reporting to your CDU
As a serving member accessing external care, you are responsible for reporting your treatment to your home CDU. Your therapist can provide documentation to support this as needed. If you have questions about what reporting involves, we're happy to discuss this during your consultation.
Progress and next steps
Therapy isn't indefinite. Together with your therapist you'll decide when you're ready to step back, equipped with the tools to keep moving forward. If your posting or circumstances change, virtual care means continuity of support regardless of where you're based.
