Why therapists seek therapy
You already understand the mechanics of psychotherapy better than most of your clients ever will. What you may be less practiced at is being on the receiving end. Compassion fatigue, vicarious trauma, the weight of holding space for others day after day; these are occupational realities that don't resolve themselves, no matter how much clinical training you have.
"Knowing how therapy works doesn't make you immune to needing it. If anything, it makes the barrier to asking higher."
Working with a peer-informed therapist gives you a space where you don't have to translate your experience into lay terms, manage your therapist's reactions to clinical content, or carry the session yourself. You already know what good therapy looks like, this is yours to receive.

How we work with therapists
You can read the model names and know exactly what they involve. What matters here is fit, not familiarity. Our therapists bring these approaches to your sessions without assuming you need them explained.
For therapists navigating the cognitive patterns that come with the role: perfectionism, hypervigilance to client outcomes, difficulty switching off, and the persistent sense that you should be handling things better than you are.
For therapists carrying the weight of vicarious trauma, secondary traumatic stress, or the cumulative impact of working with high-acuity clients over time. A space where you don't have to manage the session or protect your therapist from what you bring.
For therapists who want structured, goal-oriented support, building sustainable boundaries, managing caseload stress, and developing strategies that actually hold up in the realities of clinical work.
What to expect
You know how this works. Here's the specifics of how we do it.
Free 20-minute consultation
A direct conversation to confirm fit, discuss your peer rate, and match you with the right therapist. No obligation to proceed. Your peer rate is confirmed at this stage and applies to all subsequent sessions.
Your first session
Your therapist won't need you to explain what therapy is or how it works. The first session is about understanding your specific situation, what's bringing you in, and what you want to get out of the work. You set the agenda.
Ongoing sessions
50-minute sessions at a frequency that works for your schedule and needs. Your peer rate applies to every session for the full duration of the therapeutic relationship, no expiry, no renegotiation. Sessions are available virtually across Canada or in-person in Petawawa, ON.
Progress and next steps
You'll know when the work is done. Together with your therapist you'll decide when to step back, or shift to occasional maintenance sessions as needed. The peer rate applies throughout.
Accessible, transparent pricing
Don’t see your insurer? No worries, coverage may be available through providers not shown here.
Logos are shown for identification only. Serebro Health is an independent healthcare provider and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by these insurers. Direct billing for eligible clients is facilitated through the TELUS eClaims and ProviderConnect networks.
If you operate or manage a group practice, a clinic billing arrangement may be available that reduces rates further for your therapists. Contact us directly to discuss partnership terms.
Peer rate pricing reflects a 10% discount off standard session fees of $120–$185 per 50-minute session, resulting in a peer rate of $108–$166.50 per session depending on therapist. The peer rate applies to all sessions for the full duration of the therapeutic relationship. The $0–$33 out-of-pocket figure reflects typical costs for therapists with eligible insurance coverage at peer rate after direct billing is applied. Many therapists in private practice do not have employer health benefits; standard peer rate fees apply in full where no coverage exists. Group practice partnership rates are negotiated separately via clinic billing arrangement.
