What is psychotherapy?
Psychotherapy is a professional, evidence-based form of talk therapy. As a WSIB claimant accessing the Mental Health Program of Care, you'll work one-on-one with a Registered Psychotherapist to address the psychological impacts of your workplace injury or illness; developing real tools to move forward.

Unlike casual conversation, psychotherapy is structured, goal-oriented, and grounded in clinical training. Your therapist brings both professional expertise and genuine care to every session, and your treatment is fully covered through WSIB at no cost to you.
How the Mental Health Program of Care works
The WSIB Mental Health Program of Care (MH POC) is a structured treatment program designed to support workers experiencing psychological injuries or mental health conditions related to their workplace. As an approved MHPOC provider, Serebro Health delivers covered psychotherapy directly billed to WSIB; no out-of-pocket cost to you.
Registered psychotherapy sessions are fully covered under the MHPOC program for eligible claimants. There is no out-of-pocket cost for approved sessions. Treatment is delivered within the program's approved session framework.
Serebro Health bills WSIB directly on your behalf. You never receive an invoice for covered sessions. All you need to get started is your WSIB claim number and the contact information of your WSIB case manager or the person who referred you to the program.
MH POC treatment is goal-oriented and time-limited. Your therapist will work with you to address the psychological impacts of your workplace injury, build coping strategies, and support your recovery and return to wellness.
How to access WSIB mental health treatment
The WSIB Mental Health Program of Care (MH POC) follows a structured pathway. Here's how it works and what to expect when accessing treatment through Serebro Health.
WSIB determines eligibility
Following a workplace injury or illness, WSIB assesses whether mental health treatment is required as part of your recovery. If approved, you will be referred for assessment and ongoing treatment under the Mental Health Program of Care.
Assessment by a qualified provider
Before treatment begins, a formal assessment is completed by a qualified provider. This assessment determines your treatment needs and establishes the foundation for your care plan. Serebro Health delivers the ongoing treatment that follows; not the initial assessment.
Connect with Serebro Health
Your WSIB case manager may connect you directly with an authorized provider, or they may advise you to find a provider that fits your needs. Either way, you can reach out to Serebro Health directly, you will need your WSIB claim number and your case manager's name to get started. We respond to all WSIB intake inquiries within 8 business hours. Only certain therapists at Serebro Health are authorized under the MHPOC program, we will confirm availability and match you with an appropriate therapist upon intake.
Treatment delivered in blocks
Treatment is delivered in blocks of up to 8 sessions or 8 weeks, whichever comes first. Each 50-minute session builds on the last, focused on addressing the psychological impacts of your workplace injury and supporting your recovery. Near the end of each block, your therapist will submit a progress report to WSIB. Based on that report, WSIB will determine whether continued care is required and authorize additional treatment blocks as needed.
End of authorized treatment
When WSIB determines that authorized treatment is complete, they will provide guidance on next steps for your ongoing care. If you wish to continue therapy beyond your authorized WSIB coverage, you are welcome to do so; sessions can continue under your personal or employer health benefits plan, EAP coverage, or privately out of pocket.

Continuing care beyond your WSIB coverage
If you choose to continue therapy beyond your WSIB-authorized treatment, sessions can continue under your personal or employer health benefits plan, EAP coverage, or privately out of pocket. Standard session rates apply for non-WSIB sessions.
Serebro Health is an approved provider under the WSIB Mental Health Program of Care. Coverage is subject to WSIB authorization and applies only to sessions delivered within approved treatment blocks. Sessions continued beyond authorized coverage are the client's responsibility.
